2014 in Review + Welcoming 2015

Hot damn, 2014 was a pretty fucking epic year. It didn’t feel super electric or anything, but reflecting back– there was a lot of shit!!! A lot of AWESOME SHIT.

Here are some highlights to recap:

  • Broke the national bench press record, broke the national squat record, broke the national overall total, and won best lifter award at the Old Skool Iron Classic Powerlifting Championships (described more here)
  • Won first in my class and overall at my first physique competition, qualifying for Nationals (described more here)
  • Won first in my class and overall at my next physique competition, qualifying again for Nationals (described more here)
  • Competed for the first time on the National stage, did well, and had a great time 😉 (described more here)
  • traveled to Chile by myself and embarked on a solo mountain biking trip (described more here)

…I think that’s a great year 😉 I worked hard as fuck. I was dieting like all year, working my ass off in the gym all the time, got strong as hell before the powerlifting competition….got the leanest I’ve ever been for SF/Nationals…never have I ever had to give so much of my heart and my mental focus to grind grind grind it out in the gym, in life, etc…to accomplish my goals of breaking those national powerlifting records, and to smash those physique competitions…but it was so rewarding to give my heart to something and achieve the goals I set out to achieve….

Though I learned so much in powerlifting and it felt great to feel so strong, I feel that physique is currently more fascinating to me, and something I want to continue to pursue. In 2015, I want to continue to compete on the National stage for my pro card. To that end, I need to work more on posing, and after the holidays, I will start easing my way back into the gym and tightening up the diet, to work off some of the complete fatassery and deconditioning that has befallen me, as multiple ice cream sandwiches and innumerous other foods/treats have flown at my mouth and forced themselves down my esophagus. Although my face is now sadly chipmunk-ish, at least my ass looks good!

I wish you much love, prosperity, and happiness in 2015. I wish you much weightlifting (tho when i wish you happiness, this becomes almost redundant bwahah)….and wish you breathless, exhilarating cardio (for all you weirdos out there that like cardio).

Warmly,

K
