Today was another great day 🙂 After the vigor of the past two days, I prolly cut my exercise in half today. In the morning, I had a private session with a Muay Thai trainer who killed me with cardio. I haven’t been pushed that hard since…I don’t know how long it’s been. Fun times!
Then after that, I had to walk around the corner to the weight room, because I have not lifted in ages and wanted to touch the weights!!! My friend came in to do back and he persuaded me to do some quick back with him. Despite my dripping disgusting appearance, he didn’t have excessive sympathy for me. After that, I was beat!!! I had ALREADY been beat!!!
I came home, showered, ate, and headed off on my motorbike to run some errands, which I proudly managed! I finally found my friend Tina, so we hung out for a bit and she accompanied me while I tried some BOMBBBBBBBBBB a-licioussss curry with chicken, veg and coconut milk from a spot by Tiger. YUMz galore. After that, I hung out while I watched her class for an hour or so, feeling slightly lazy/guilty for watching everyone else work out and not partake (but happy with my decision to just watch). Then I came home, changed into my anti-staph long sleeve shirt and capris for jiu jitsu class. I was tired but know that jiu jitsu is not so much about power as technique, so it doesn’t require as much energy. Today the teacher went a little slower, and I can actually recall slighty what we did today 😉
One thing I saw today which was notable was a Thai trainer terrorizing a student. The Muay Thai training here in Thailand has a reputation for being relentless and unsympathetic. Muay Thai fighters from Thailand are known to desensitize their shins by kicking trees, and having no mercy for “injuries” and things like that. But, it has been my experience that everyone has been civil. Until today. I saw a Thai trainer basically living out the reputation. The poor student (whom I imagined to be me) was gasping for air and didn’t want to continue with the pad work, but the trainer kept on yelling and shouting and screaming at him “Go!” “Come on!” and kicking him and coming after him when he would try to back away. It was demoralizing I think. I mean, I wasn’t inside the student’s head, and he did stick around for the rest of the class, but I can only imagine how brutal that was, from a (physical and) psychological perspective. I noted who this trainer is, so if there is an instance where he is one of the trainers to hold the pads for us students, I will do my best to NOT be with him. <Smiles angelically>
That’s it for today, my loves. Nothing too crazy! My legs are turning all sorts of colors, from little cuts, bug bites, scars, and bruises, including the one I gave to myself today by elbowing myself sharply in my quad, trying to block a kick and instead gouging my own knee with my elbow. Just call me Slick!
Love and curry~
