Every Love Can Be Merciless

Yes, lovelies, it’s that all-too-infrequent time to update the bloggie. Sorry! I love you!! 😉

Exercise

As far as exercise has been concerned (of course I must start with the most important topic LOL), I have been unable to train in muay thai and jiu jitsu due to my toe healing. It was only recently that I started to feel comfortable enough to even box with it (e.g. have to be a bit light on the toes and pivot on the toe during the left hook)…So for the first few weeks I reverted back to strength training and made some great strength gains, then I shockingly became unmotivated by strength training. These past few weeks all I have been doing is elliptical and boxing. Who am I, right?!    heh…That’s just how it is.

Emotion

The power of love is cataclysmic. I don’t know why- the song by Rihanna comes to mind. The chorus in particular gives me goosebumps!

~~Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world…
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man

Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only one…~~

The song makes me want to rip my heart out of my chest and smush it in long arm strokes across the floor, jump into the shimmering blood trail like a pool and open myself up like a big “X” and fall deep into a long well, hair whipping at my face as I careen millions of light years down and down through different landscapes….nice description right? Basically, the lyrics remind me of how deep and visceral the connection between two people is, and there is nothing like two people who love one another and I want to meet the one that is meant for me and I am meant for him. I want to be one of the 50 million gazillion girls in the world to feel like they are the only one 😉

(the song is below, sorry the vid has an ad before it starts)

Thailand

To clear my head, I’ve decided to pack up shop and (temporarily) move to Thailand.

I’m getting rid of my apartment and trying to get rid of as many things as possible. E.g. if I’ve borrowed anything from anyone, (books, clothes, whatever), I’m returning them. Things I don’t need, I’m giving away (art supplies [sadly], books, clothes, etc). I want no strings attached. The only hesitation is my personal training business, which is going great. I feel bad to leave my clients…They can survive for a month without me…but longer than that, I jeopardize my business…I really want to train MMA, especially taking advantage of the Muay Thai training over there. BUT. My toe needs to heal. I am giving it a few more weeks of just boxing/strength training (not running, kicking, unpredictable movement like in jiu jitsu, etc) and hopefully by the time I go to Thailand, my toe will be able to tolerate it. If my toe is not ready, I will still go and will visit the Buddhist temples, meditate in the presence of blazing saffron-clad monks, see the sights, breathe in the air from the other side of the world, dig my fingertips and feet into the sand, and re-center…

I'm going here!!!!

I'm going here!!!!

So I’m excited.

Fighting

I really would love love LOVE to train over there, it would be the ultimate. I had only been training here for about a month before my toe broke, so it’s almost like I would go there untrained! 😉 Regarding boxing, which is the only thing I’ve been able to do with my toe, here is the update:

  • my footwork is uncoordinated and definitely feels foreign
  • I need to pivot my left foot and hip a lot more when I throw a left hook
  • I need to keep my chin down
  • I need to stop telegraphing my right cross
  • Etc etc…
  • On the positive side, at least I’ve been practicing it, so in small ways I’ve gotten better I’m sure in many ways I don’t know. One good thing I can say is that I can actually HIT the double-end bag now! Woo! I used to never be able to catch that thing and was soooo frustrated but now I can hit it! Yipee!

Fighting is on my brain! I just finished reading “A Fighter’s Heart” by Sam Sheridan.

a fighters heart

I really enjoyed it! I’d like to share with you a few passages that resonated with me..p. 336

“The person agreeing to fight you is doing you a great service, allowing you to test yourself against him or her; they agree to abide by the same rules, to meet you on an exact date in a specified location. The opponent allows you to strive fully, without reservation, and you do the same for him (or her). When you think about it, fighting in a ring is incredibly civilized. We’ll try to kill each other, but we agree to stop the instant the other wants to, or is hurt, we’ll shut down all the killer instincts inside us the moment we feel a tap on the leg. The embrace after a fight is not false, or forced, it’s respect and gratitude….someone has agreed to fight you has agreed to serve as part of your test, your struggle for knowledge, your quest to make yourself better.”

Why do we do something that hurts us? We love it! And as we established, in the words of Sam Sheridan (p. 344) –>

EVERY LOVE CAN BE MERCILESS.
