GET IN MAH BELLY!
Warning: You are about to live vicariously through my wonderfully flavorful, versatile spicy curry with Indian influences….!!!***** +++++++
WELLLLL, kids, I am super excited about my new recipe. Yes, welcome to the exciting world of Kristina. Excited by eating some goat.
I have been jonesing for some exotic meats, but it’s hard to find some deer, llama, horse, kangaroo, or what have you. Does anyone know where I can get some in da states?! =O
Anyhoo, the thought of GOAT came to me. I think someone mentioned it to me. AND when I found out that it’s actually a lean meat, I decided I must consume this immediately. I googled where to find some locally, and luckily there was a market in Sunnyvale that caters to the population from Bangladesh and India (New Bangla Bazar), and they have “fresh Halal goat, lamb, beef, and chicken” among other ingredients and curry type powders I found intriguing yet unrecognizable! I ordered the goat, and they brought out a whole leg and sliced it in front of me.
YEAAhhhhhhhhhh. There were still bones attached to many slices of meat, and I left those on to cook and impart their marrow into the slow cooker stew I would make!
Brought the suckers home with some fresh vegetables and got it all ready!
First, I marinated the goat liberally with salt and pepper. A few hours later, I seared it in a pan with grapeseed oil.
Then I put it in a crockpot and layered the veggies on top with copious amounts of curry powder and other spices, oil, and broth. Cooked it on low heat for ten hours. The meat was tender and falling off the bone- YUM! >>Voile! A healthy, delicious, melt in your mouth stew.
Here are the exact ingredients I used:
- raw goat meat
- authentic Indian curry powder
- chopped onion
- chopped carrots
- chopped tomato
- chopped celery
- chopped eggplant
- chopped broccoli
- grapeseed oil
- beef broth
- parsley
- salt
- pepper
- red cayenne pepper
- minced garlic
- paprika
- basil
